What AILC is commited to
The Americans for Individual Liberties Coalition evaluates executive policies, legislative actions, candidate positions and judicial decisions to determine there impact on the individual American. Through this analysis we determine if there will be any negative effects on the ability of the individual to carry out their god given rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
National Security
Our freedoms are constantly threatened by our enemies abroad this is why it is essential to have a strong national defense and a President that is decisive and willing to defend his nation and citizens at all costs. We cannot be weak in the face of terror and we cannot have a president that dithers on issues related to our safety. Many of the decisions the President has made on foreign policy has created fear among Americans. The decisions to try KSM in NYC and the Presidents unwillingness to name our enemy are two examples. This fear will hold some Americans hostage and will prevent them from carrying out their freedoms.
Healthcare Reform
The current bill’s, proposed by the house and senate, will have a substantial impact on the Individual. Cost, regulation, and government run insurance are the main threats within these bills. Taxes and regulation will have a devastating effect on businesses of all sizes and further reduce job opportunities for American citizens. As the public option grows in strength, which we believe it will, the private insurance market will begin to fail. The failure of this market means the government will have total control over the health industry. When this happens, access to quality, timeliness, innovation, choice and control over health decisions is stripped from the individual.
Cap and Trade
If this bill becomes law, the government will expand its control into each and every sector of our economy. New regulations will have an overwhelming, negative, impact on business expansion and economic growth. In an effort to diminish the impact of costs associated with this bill, many businesses will pass them on to the consumer. This bill will also allow the government to dictate which products Americans can and can’t purchase and force them to co-operate with absurd environmental regulations. This will have consequences for private ownership as well. The end result is less opportunity for Americans to succeed and more government control over the individual.
Attack On the free market
Ronald Reagan once famously said “as government expands, liberty contracts”. There is a crucial link between the free market and freedom that must not be broken. Essentially, every time the government expands its power into the private market it strips the American people of their liberties, limits their opportunities, and exerts control over their vote. The Americans for Individual Liberty Coalition will support and defend free market principles as they are a crucial part of America’s freedom.
